Friday faves!

Poor old Natalie is sick...so while she and the other kids are on my bed in the air con (trying to get her temp down) watching Uncle Danny's protable DVD player, I am going to do my faves!

#1 This cool scrapping thing my mum bought for me. It is supposed to make some sort of mobile work station, but its HA - UGE!!! Its 12x12x12. So I use it to store my alphas...love it! Love the colour and the shape, and its just cool:-) #2 Parcels of loveliness arriving at my door:-) To help ease the burden (*heh*, I may have milked it a bit) of Mick working away, he handed me his credit card and told me to 'buy myself something pretty'...so i did;-)

#3 My Max factor mascara. I love it. Love it love it love it.

#4 these pretty flowers from Prima. Silk, pretty colours and gorgeous. What more could you want???

#5...okay, its daggy, and probably shows I have some sort of major mental issues, but I watched this movie this week...

And I loved it. It made me laugh, and although it was totally predictable, I still liked it!!!
So...what are the things that made you smile this week?!?!

Photographic evidence

That Sam's room started out this week tidy, and not as the pig pen it currently looks like. Just putting it up here...don't want child services arriving and thinking we let him just sleep in a tip!!!

Wanna win this...

My all time favourite Heather Bailey PPs, ribbons, CS, flowers, buttons....etc

All you need to do, is to head on over to D2U, check out the challenge here, complete the challenge (its a super easy one!) and get it into the gallery by midnight 2nd November. All entries will go into the draw to win this little prize bundle:-)

Woohooo!

I made it through to round 9 of SYTYCS. I am shocked...really and truly shocked. I was ready to go this week...and last week...I really don't feel worthy. Heh, mum this is for you...I found it whilst blog hopping earlier:-)
Thanks for stopping by! And if you are voting for me in SYTYCS...thank you SO SO much!

cat

Heh...this is what my kids currently think is hilarious to do to each other...and I have to admit, I can totally remember doing this to my little brothers and sisters too :-)

I am missing Mick again today...I rang poor mumsy and made her talk to me for 28 minutes. I had my Tuesday 'study day' today! Good times. I love that when I talked to Mick about cancelling Sam's day care over the Christmas break, he told me not to:-)

He said I may need some alone time whilst he was working in Maryborough, and boy was he right! I love that man. He knows me so well.

So, I had the whole day to myself and did I clean? Did I scrap? Did I do anything remotely useful??? Nope. I watched 'What Happens In Vegas'. SO funny! Time for some new movies little bro!!!

Natalie came home with a school library book today. Yet another picture book. She is now reading chapter books, and I asked her why she didn't get a chapter book, she said that the librarian doesn't think she can read them **sigh** She didn't even think of telling him that she can!

Happy birthday to my baby Brother Kim! We rang and sang, but only on message bank...recorded for posterity LOL

Well, best go hunt and gather some food for my hungry munchkins!

My hero

My husband is pretty cool. When he isn't fighting fires or rescuing wildlife, he can be found with a chainsaw... This was taken when he went up to Mission Beach (a year ago?!?!) to help with the clean up following Cyclone Larry. Its pretty hot...I like that he can pretty much fix/do anything. Dunno about those ear muffs though...

Not me Monday!

I didn't have to pay my eldest daughter $2 this morning to get a photo of her before she left for school... If I had of paid her $2 it would have stopped this sort of stuff...

I didn't stay safely upstairs yesterday whilst this hose wielding maniac watered the children...ooops, I think I meant plants...

I didn't then suddenly realise that this was a perfect opportunity to use my big long lens! Nope, a good mother would have gone and defended her chicks from the hose wielding maniac!

I didn't just look at my dining table and use the vaccum cleaner to clean the top. Nup, that would be way gross.
I didn't let the girls walk themselves up to the classroom this morning - with advice ringing in their ears like "hold your bags over your heads" and "walk together, they don't like attacking groups" - because I am frightened of the swooping magpie... Nope. Good mothers get out of the car and throw themselves in front of the swooping magpies...
***sigh***
I really kind of suck some times!!!!

A new comp!

Kerryn fromD2U has designed a fabulosa challenge whilst Marisa is away! Here is my example from week 1. Apologies, this was done super fast...the title is wonky, cause I hand wrote and cut the letters...also used a foam stamp-am trying to use 'stash' items. This is really about remembering having mum and dad with me for this precious time;-)
From Kerryn's blog:

Marisa is about to head off on a fabulous holiday to India. So while the boss is away, I have cooked up a fun 4 week challenge for you all.

When I think of India, I think of curries. Korma, Vindaloo, Chicken Tikka & Rogan Josh are a few that come to mind.

Your challenges are going to be inspired by some of these curries.
Each Monday, a challenge will be set and you will have until the following Sunday at midnight to upload it to the gallery.

Each week, all entrants who complete the challenge will go into a random draw to receive a RAK.
At the end of the 4 weeks, if you have completed all 4 challenges you will go into a random draw to receive one of two store vouchers to the value of $15 & $10 that Marisa has kindly donated.
These challenges are sure to be spicy and lots of fun, I look forward to seeing your creations.

Note; the first challenge will be listed a little earlier (Friday 24/10/08) prior to Marisa’s departure so you will have a couple of extra days to finish the first challenge. Make sure you check the forum for all the details!

Some ACTUAL good news LOL

My husband walked in the door at 7.30 this morning :-D

He checked the fires uber early this morning, and the cooler night really helped calm them down a little, so he headed home. Unfortunately since he arrived home, his phone is running hot with fires that are local. So he probably has to go out again. It was sooooooo good to hug him and smooch him. I miss him when he is away!

I got my LO done for SYTCYS. Colouring blocking genre.. Sam is a little in love with it, trying to get him out of the way for a pic was nearly impossible! LOL Look at that little head! A close up:-)
The LO has to also have journalling strips and circle elements to break up the straight lines.

here tis! Click and it should get bigger...maybe

Thanks for stopping by...have a FAB weekend!
Jayne..if you read this, I need your addy! I have a little present for you from the Sam crafty guessing thingy:-)

Friday Faves...

Thank you so much guys! What amazingly wonderful comments to read. I know someone must be saying prayers for me, cause I had a GREAT night's sleep, and life always seems better with some sleep:-)

Busy day here..work was flat out, and the kids all had fun at school/babysitters.

Now for the faves!

#1 The Mentalist. Oh. My. Gosh. I am in love. He can delve into my mind ANY time he likes... #2 My helpful kids. They try so very very hard to be helpful, and they are still so little. I appreciate that they have been so well behaved and helpful with Mick away. They are just lovely!

#3 The cat. Well, specifically the way that the cat, wherever he is in the house will come flying the moment he hears a doona being moved...he loves helping to make the bed?!?! He jumps on, and loves to be covered in the blankets. He comes with me from room to room 'helping'. Funny!
P.S. not my cat....I stole the pic off somewhere...*heh*Wish my bedroom was that neat though...

#4 Friends....Aaaaaaaw. Friends on line, friends in real life. This week, I have relied on so many people. I find it EXTREMELY hard to ask for help, and this week, I have been forced to. Mick and I try to do most things without help from anyone. Without family around to call on, we are pretty self reliant. People this week have just been so generous with their kind words and with offers of childcare, and I feel so blessed to have such lovely friends.
Thanks guys!

#5 The feeling I got this week when I found out that I had made it through another round of So You Think You Can Scrap. AMAZING! They should bottle that kind of feeling!!!!

The kids and I are about to settle down in front of a movie with our *cough* healthy*cough* dinner of chicken nuggets and chips! Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for stopping by:-)

More good news

:-(

He's not coming home this weekend because people decided that this would be a good time to burn off, and all of the fires are burning their way merrily through the National Park *sigh*

One of the guys he was with has broken his arm, so they are a man short.

Now the family portrait we were booked in to have, will have to be cancelled, babysitters organised (Thank you God, for my awesome wonderful friends). ooops, just saw how selfish that all sounds...I am proud of him, but I miss him, and I am disappointed.

Thanks for your lovely messages last night...so much appreciated!!!

Missing him...

So much today. I just feel crazy tired. Utterly exhausted...the whole single parent, no break and no sleep thing has caught up with me, and I am wrecked. I just want to curl into a ball and hide away, just for a bit...
I have felt on the verge of tears all day. Thank goodness there were no really mean customers at work today, or they would have seen me disintegrate!
I'd love to stay and chat, but my 'to do' list is huge...and the kidlets need me to discuss their day with them.
Thanks for stopping by:-)

D2U Sneaky peeks...

From the November DT kit (sheesh...did I just type November?!?!? Nah, couldn't possible be that late in the year...)

Lots of lovely colours and lots of ribbons and bits to play with in this kit...This is s sneak of something I am creating to give to my mum And this is part of that^^^
And this is something fun...
Hah! This one has a pic of my family from 1991! Check back later for details!! Bwahahaha!
Thanks for stopping by!

Flabbergasted!!!

I made it through another round of SYTYCS.
I am truly blown away. To think that someone is voting for my LOs (and its not me, or my mum!!) is just incredible! Some of my comp faves left this week, which I am pretty bummed about. Each week so far there have been some shocks.
So if you are reading this, and voted for me THANK YOU! I was ready to go this week, and I was happy with that...I have gotten so much out of this already!

***sniff***

My baby brother and his wife are back in Australia...I just rang my mum to see how they are, and they had just walked in the door. Another family get together (alright..faux family get together) that I miss out on...
Here is Amy and my sis in law Bethy
And my baby brother, rocking the blue steel self portrait. Waaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! I wanna see them and be with my family. Darn this being an adult and having responsibilities junk. I want my mummy!!!!!

Not me Monday...

But its Tuesday...nevermind...

So here are some things that I definitely DID NOT do, nuh uh no sir...

I did not let the cat go outside because I couldn't stand it meowing outside the door for one second longer. No way, no how...Mick forbids me to let it outside, so Idefinitely would not disrespect his decisions in such a flippant way. Nope, not me.

I did not let the kids eat neon coloured cup cakes for lunch yesterday. No siree, that would be bad for their health and stuff. I know, cause I'm like, the adult and stuff...

I did not let the kitten sleep in Natalie's room last night, nope, they didn't look at all cute curled around each other...

I did not collapse into the recliner last night after doing a mad dash around the house cleaning it up only to have the phone ring. I did not ignore it and pretend I wasn't at home cause I was too lazy to get off my butt and talk to the person. I did not later check my caller ID to discover it was my husband and decide that I was too tired to talk and sent a quick text message instead, nope, I am a loving wonderful wife full of energy!

Gosh, imagine if I had done such terrible things...do you think I would be in trouble?!?!?

Drumroll.....

Okay, so it was tricky...I'll admit.... Its a robot soldier!!!!!
Yeah, I couldn't see it either. In fact some of your guesses made a LOT more sense!
I threw all the names into a box and he drew out Jayne!
So Jayne, let me know your addy, and I'll post you a little prize!
Thanks everyone for playing along, I might have to share his next artistic attempt!!!

Ummmm, okay....

So, I found out on Thursday night that today is a pupil free day.

Luckily I found out, or I would have sent the girls as usual today. That would have made for an interesting phone call from the school I am sure. Since stopping teaching I am absolutely oblivious to things like pupil free days and school holidays. I have no idea when they are, usually until the week before....then its panic stations while I figure out who is going where when I work...

Luckily, today is a non work day. So the babysitting solution was simple!

We made cup cakes. If you have a weak stomach, look away. The photos themselves have made me vomit a little in my mouth, but the kids loved them. That blue looks exactly like the cookie monster!
And the kidlets proudly showing off their favourite cup cake creation...which they then wrapped to be put into their lunch boxes for tomorrow.
Oh the colours...my eyes!
Look at those hands and faces...and the clothes *sigh* Thank you So much to everyone who left me comments last night...It felt as though I had friends over for cuppas:-) You guys will get me through this Mick working away thing I am positive!!!

best dash...they are fighting over the kitten..poor little guy!

A lovely lovely weekend :-)

My sis Clare came out for a visit, and to do a Tupperware party....well, it was actually for the Tupperware party, and we provided a bed LOL

It was just so nice to have her here. She sat with me on Saturday while I cleaned my scrap room (much to her horror!) and we just hung out. No pressure, no rushing, no shopping, just hanging. She picked the kids up from school for me on Friday afternoon (I was working) I had warned her and Sam's babysitter that Sam probably wouldn't recognize her - I am surprised that he knows who I am most days...he is in SUCH a world of his own - but he threw himself at her when he saw her! I think it made Clare's weekend!
This pic was them all trying to give each other bunny ears all at the same time.

And the kids new favourite snacks..frozen fruit smoothies YUM!

So my lovelies, have a fab week, and stop by to keep me company. I am home alone again this week (and all the weeks leading up to Christmas) so you guys are my adult company at night!!!

SYTYCS!

The haberdashery genre. This week required stitching - at least 75% of the elements on the page needed to be stitched and there had to be 2 different forms of stitching on the page. No problem...I love stitching on my pages! Its hard NOT to stitch LOL

We also had to use at least 2 pieces of fabric, ribbon and a handmade embellishment. This is where the wheels started to fall off... I used ribbon and 4 pieces of fabric to create this rose. (stitched onto the page naturally LOL)

I dunno about this one. Again I had trouble translating what was in my head onto the page. Ah well, I don't think I will get a chance for a do over, what with my husband home and my sister visiting! Wheeee!
I just love these photos. So romantic and lovely...not mine of course, these were the ones taken by the professional photographer at Bush turkey Studios. He was awesome, managed to capture so much emotion.

Wish me luck this week, I think I am going to need it!

Meant to also thank the person from scraptac who left me a comment during the week saying that they liked my entries so far. Truly that comment has made me smile many times this week, and I refuse to delete it from my in box. So thank you...whoever you are!

Five Fab Faves for Friday!

*sigh* I just can't seem to get it right..I am doing ym faves on a Thursday night!?!? There is a reason...its one of my faves this week *wink*

#1 Home made pizza! YUMMY! This way I can almost convince myself that its kinda sorta healthy...almost. It may not be terribly healthy, but it IS terribly tasty! We had this one night for dinner, and the kids rang to tell Mick about it...poor Mick was eating 2 minute noodles out of a cup ;-) #2 (sheesh...also food related, heh, exciting week here obviously!) Chocolate muffins...Now in the 10 years I have been married to my Prince Charming, he has probably cooked muffins maybe twice. One of these times was last week.
With him away, the kids are lookign for little ways to connect with dad. So when I made a batch of them, they all sighed and said "ooooh, just like daddy always makes"'
Hmmmm, always?!?!?

#3 Now, technically I had absolutely nothing to do with this, but I love that I have grown pretty perfumed roses in my very own garden!
#4 Ahhhhhh, my husband...well, specifically the butterflies I am getting just thinking about him coming home tomorrow night for the weekend *blush*
(doesn't he look cute in his fire fighter uniform?!? I actually prefer his turnout gear myself, but thats a whole 'nother post LOL)

#5 is the reason I am sharing my Friday faves on a Thursday!!!

I am getting a visitor this weekend! the kids and I are SO excited! My sis is travelling out to see us (and maybe do a tupperware party...but I think its mainly to see us...maybe)

So thats me for the week! Have a good weekend...just have to survive friday...its close people, I can almost taste the weekendy goodness!!!!
